I took these pictures on Friday, which was the first day of the new school year in our county. On the radio and in conversation I am hearing a lot of - "now that summer is ending (or over!)... ".
It's definitely still summer round here.
Helen's flowers are still gracing our table every week:Gillen's bird garden is filled with butterflies, bees and hummingbirds:The kids are inside out of the oppressive heat (when they aren't swimming) playing Texas Hold'em, or Rune Scape on the computer:Life is good.
I do love fall way more than summer and I like the stacks of back-to-school supplies. I bought some white erasers the other day when I was out buying a birthday present. I figured the kids could use them with their drawings - they are more into using pencils lately then pens.

We are starting to see little bits of spring poking through but it is still a bit chilly here. A few more weeks of winter yet. Enjoy the rest of your warm and very abundant summer.
School?! Perish the thought. We all go back the 28th and NO ONE is happy about it.
Alecto, at least yours go back closer to the real fall.
I love 'back to school' time, b/c we don't have to!!
We take our time and don't really start talking about what we'd like to concentrate on this year until at least October.
It's funny, the kids usually start being ready for summer to end and start saying things like, "I can't wait to be reading in front of the fireplace this winter." Maddie actually said those words yesterday:)
Oh,I love back to school time! The museums, beaches, parks, everywhere are so much less crowded! The public schools start on the 11th here, only a week or so after their summer school ends.
Gotta go now...cheap markers and paint are calling my name!
It is true. There is much more room now at the library and everywhere else for us as home schoolers. This is the first year that I felt a pang of angst for the kids going back - maybe from watching a kid in the neighborhood walking to the bus stop last Friday. It is just so summer still, you know?
